Press Release:

Innovative youth ministry course launched at Redcliffe College

Redcliffe College, Gloucester has launched a new youth ministry course, aimed at equipping youth leaders in churches.  The unvalidated course will be held over three Saturdays between February and May, and explores topics such as what it’s really like being seventeen again, spirituality for young people, helping young people get excited about living and sharing their faith, models of youth ministry in rural and urban contexts, and the practicalities of taking young people on mission trips.

Speakers come from a wide range of youth ministry backgrounds. They include Ian Henderson (The Message Trust), Dot Tyler (Emerging Generation) and Mike Frith (Oscar) as well as others from Youth for Christ, 24-7 prayer, Urban Saints, Underground (Open Doors), Stroud-based PSALMS and more.

Each day has a theme – 6 February: Young people and the spirituality of church life; 27 March: Discipleship with bite (and boots); 15 May: Seventeen again – youth culture and models of youth ministry. In addition to seminars, there will be resources available, and plenty of time for networking.

“We designed this course asking ‘what would be most helpful areas to cover for the average church youth leader – whether they are paid, or working as a volunteer,” explains Steve Bullock, Diocesan Youth Officer for Gloucester Diocese.

Each day runs from 9.30am – 4pm and costs £18 per day, or £50 for three. The cost includes a buffet lunch if booked in advance.
